What DocShape returns

Verified

The extracted amounts reconcile with balances or totals DocShape read from the statement. This does not confirm that every transaction, date or description was captured correctly.

The workbook adds a Verification sheet with each check.

.xlsx.csv

The rows you reviewed, as a file you can check.

Excel carries its own verification sheet. CSV is the data alone, in the same shape every time. A field the statement does not print stays blank, never filled in.

  1. Upload a PDF

  2. Check the result

Every extracted row and the outcome of each check, before you export.

What the CSV holds

On a supported multi-account statement, one workbook covers every account; the CSV is one file per account.

What it reads, and what it will not guess.

Not every statement is a clean PDF. DocShape tells you what it could not read or check instead of pretending everything is correct.

    Read directly

    Text-based PDFs
Where a PDF’s text is usable, DocShape reads it directly, with nothing retyped.
    Multiple accounts
Where a consolidated statement’s structure is supported, it separates the accounts and checks each one independently.
  • This statement could not be converted

This PDF's pages are images rather than selectable text, so the statement could not be read from them. Scanned statements are not supported yet. If your bank offers a text PDF of the same statement, that will work.

    Refused

    Scanned statements
The public beta refuses scanned or image-based pages; it reads text-based PDFs.
When it cannot extract a statement safely
It refuses with a reason rather than guessing or inventing data. DocShape does not yet handle every layout, and not every multi-account layout is supported.
  • Could not be verified automatically

    Not verifiable

    When it cannot check it
If it does not recognize enough independent figures to check the data, the conversion still succeeds and is shown as “Could not be verified automatically”. Each check it could not run reads Unavailable, never passed.

Your statement is temporary.

No separate DocShape account. Access is tied to a temporary key held in this browser session.

Storage. Persistent sensitive production storage is encrypted at rest.

External AI. No external AI service is used to convert statements. Scanned or photographed statements are refused: no text recognition (OCR) is used.

  4. DeletedAutomatically, about an hour after upload

Before you upload your first statement.

The public beta runs for a limited time, on a best-effort basis, and the upload on the homepage says whether it is open right now. It takes a text-based PDF statement of up to 10 MB and 8 pages; scanned statements are refused. The full converter remains a private, invite-only beta. No separate DocShape account is required.

What does “Verified” mean?

It means the extracted amounts reconcile with balances or totals DocShape read from the statement. It does not mean the original bank statement has been authenticated, and it does not confirm that every transaction was captured once, or that dates, descriptions and amounts are on the right rows.

What should I do when the result needs review?

“Needs review” means one or more checks did not reconcile. Compare the rows with your statement — look for a missing credit, an extra debit, or an amount read incorrectly — before you export.

Does DocShape support every bank and statement format?

No. DocShape does not yet handle every layout. If it cannot safely extract a statement, it refuses rather than guessing or inventing data.

How are uploaded statements handled?

They are processed on the server. Files are temporary: completed jobs show the exact deletion deadline and can be deleted earlier; failed uploads are removed immediately. Uploads are encrypted in transit. No external AI service is used to convert statements in this beta. More is set out in the data handling section.

Is an external AI service used?

No external AI service is used to convert statements. Scanned or photographed statements are refused: no text recognition (OCR) is used.

What will it cost after the beta?

Pricing after the private beta has not been announced yet. When a conversion has a price, the converter shows it before you pay.
